Left Photo: Urethane model. Chicken model started as a clay sculpture, and an inexpensive latex mold was made to make a quick urethane casting. Casting was refined and test painted. Left Photo: Uncatalyzed RTV silicone being poured for mixing. Middle Photo: RTV silicone is mixed with catalyst, degassed in vacuum chamber and then poured into mold form. Right Photo: After RTV sets up, mold form is removed. An RTV block mold was made for speed (customer needed the props ASAP). Mold was cut part way down on two sides to remove model.

Finished castings were mounted on a rotisserie skewer and put in display cases near entry way of restaurant. 'Juan Pollo' chicken restaurants are a chain and has many locations throughout the Southern California area. Enough urethane chickens were cast for most all locations. You never know what kinds of props you will be asked to make!
