Info from the seller: The figure is a Frank Marshall dummy that I have owned since
1953 and was purchased from Bob Neller of Appleton, WI. Mr. Neller used to
travel around the country in his own plane giving shows and was considered
one of the finest ventriloquists in the country at that time. The figure is
41 inches tall, his head is hand-carved out of wood with red human hair,
eyes that go up and down and sideways, lips that pucker, eyebrows that go up
and down, and head that spins on a shaft in the body. The hands are
beautifully detailed with some paint chipping off of the face. All controls
function perfectly. The eyes move from side to side by tilting the head in different
directions.....to make the eyes go up or down there is a seperate control at
the back of the control stick that you move to get the effect that you
want.....same with the lip pucker motion and the eyebrown mechanism. The
head comes apart by removing the back half after removing 4 screws.....it
has always been easy to work on the various controls once the back has been
removed....the stick control is covered in cork and has always been
comfortable to hold. Note from Mike Brose: Some feel that the wood carved head on this figure is possibly a Ken Spencer head. The mechanics and body however are definitely made the McElroy brothers.
